Still Made in Britain

At Urgo Medical we’re proud to be part of the long history of textile manufacturing in the UK, manufacturing our AltiMed compression hosiery range and components of our bandaging systems in Shepshed, Leicestershire.

As a global business, it’s important to us that we support the communities that our products are sold in, and this is why we take pride in continuing to manufacture in the UK. Alongside providing skilled jobs in the local community, and reducing transportation costs, manufacturing in the UK means that we can better support our amazing clinicians and their patients. As well as standard sizes, we offer made-to-measure garments. All made with care by our team in Shepshed, made-to-measure orders are shipped within 72 hours of receiving the order, meaning patients can get the care they need as quickly as possible.

Our factory in Shepshed has been making hosiery since 1928. By the late 2000s, the AltiMed compression hosiery range included British Standard hosiery, hosiery kits for the treatment of venous leg ulcers and European Class garments. In 2010, AltiMed was acquired by Urgo Medical, adding the compression hosiery range to the already successful bandage range and both are still British-made in the same factory today.

All this means we are proud to continue to display the Made in Britain mark as registered members of Made in Britain.

Measure & Go is our new digital tool, making it easy to choose measure and order the most effective Urgo Medical compression hosiery for your patients. Whether you’re looking to find ready-to-wear compression product, or order a made-to-measure garment, Measure & Go can help.
