On July 1st, we held our Urgo Medical Summer School event in Birmingham. This was the fourth Summer School following successful events in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
In line with our commitment to advancing wound care, this event is designed to empower clinicians to challenge current practice and drive meaningful change. Expert speakers shared their insights and experience to support our delegates’ professional development.
This year, the theme centred around building a business case for the development of an evidence-based formulary, with valuable contributions from our expert panel Richard Shorney, Prof. Val Edward-Jones, Sian Fumarola, Joy Tickle and Heidi Sandoz and our chair Karen Ousey.
To have the greatest impact, we ensured the sessions were interactive and practical. Our delegates benefited from an immersive workshop, working through two scenarios to build and present a compelling business case. These exercises encouraged a focus on stakeholder engagement, critical evaluation of evidence, and cost–benefit analysis. Teams then presented their findings to an expert panel, gaining both constructive feedback and confidence in influencing upward change.
We are so proud of everyone who participated, and hope that this provided clear and valuable feedback that will benefit them professionally. By gaining practice and confidence, we are able to get one step closer to becoming successful leaders of change.
Thank you to everyone who attended and all our amazing speakers for making this event a success.
